too hot for wool

maroon pencil skirt with white blouse This is my first summer having to wear dress clothes every day (or at least every day when I'm not on surgery). It's taken a bit of getting used to! Since most of our school time these last two years have been during the cooler months, most of my "work clothes" are for colder weather. I've tried wearing my wool pencil skirts a few days just to break up the monotony of the same black pants all the time, and this was the only day I actually left the house in one since it was cooler than the rest.

Lesson learned - don't buy dress clothes all for one season!

As a side, house-keeping note, all of the pictures for the next month or so are all from June when I was on family med. I currently get up at 4 AM and am in scrubs for 12 hours a day, so there aren't any pictures to be taken during the week :) Just so no one thinks I'm getting dolled up for surgery because all I'm managing at this point is to put in mascara in the morning!

I tried...

DSC05854 While I don't really care about the "sitting" wrinkles my clothes get when I go to school, I do try to make sure that my clothes aren't really wrinkled for pictures. Pencil skirts, more than anything else, get those annoying wrinkles, so the morning we took these pictures I spent the morning in my pajama pants and waited to put my skirt on until right before I had to leave for school. The 2 minute drive to the picture location really got me. Foiled again, pencil skirt!
Any tips for keeping the pencil skirt wrinkles away? Maybe it's just this skirt - this is the J.Crew Factory version of their wool pencil skirt, and I never have this problem with my wool skirt from J.Crew :/

P.S. Loft is having a flash 60% off sale on all of their sale items (including their Lou & Grey sale items!). Here are my four favorites (you guys...that dress!)
one: a skirt for all seasons
two: a jeweled collar for layering
three: a comfy alternative for the weekend
four: possibly the world's cutest dress

head to toe

DSC02895
I typically try not to wear one brand head to toe (for no real reason though- anyone else like that?), but sometimes it just happens. I was itching to wear my new skirt, and this shirt was laying right on top of my "to steam" pile, so the outfit just kind of made itself.

Sometimes laziness and procrastination pays off...when it comes to choosing outfits anyway ;)

Also, speaking of J.Crew, they are currently offering 30% off (40% if you are a card holder) sale items. This pleated dress comes in three beautiful colors and is currently a steal at $35, the pinstripe vest is a fun alternative to the more popular herringbone version (and also cheaper!), and if you've been looking for a french-inspired graphic tee, this one is under $20 and tout too (haha) cute.
