hell week

DSC09197
So much pink, so little time. It's our last anatomy hell week - 8 tests in 8 days. As much as I like anatomy (for the most part), it's draining to learn all of it in such a short amount of time. It's also pretty gruesome as we are literally removing heads from spines, and sawing faces in half to see the inside of the head. Medical school is so weird.

three

DSC06731
It's been so muggy out the last few days - the kind of weather where the temperatures aren't really high enough to warrant the AC but it's so uncomfortable you turn it on anyway. Blah blah blah, weather weather weather. Our labs are kept at near freezing, so it's always a bit annoying figuring out what to wear.

In other news, I have two days of work left. Chris is currently in Chicago so he can take the boards tomorrow morning. I wish this Target dress either had no sleeve or a full short sleeve because it looks adorable on Lydia. I'm getting Culvers for dinner and I'm already excited about the idea of a cheeseburger. I'll probably spend the night catching up on the Bachelorette.

my life, it's thrilling.

funk

DSC01847
For the last few weeks, I've been in a clothing funk. I'm uninspired when I look at my closet and the clothes in it, and I'm somewhat unsure what to do about it. Part of it is that work limits me so much (that skirts and dresses are pretty much out, as well as heels), and then of course it's the middle of the winter (hussy ankles be damned though).

On top of that, I've been putting pressure on myself to not just go out and buy random items. I want to focus on pieces that I feel will complete my closet, but finding those pieces hasn't proven to always be easy. I know that it'll take a while to find the perfect blazer or the right boots, but meanwhile I feel like I want something new to mix it up. I know that it sounds somewhat lame, needing to go out and buy something to feel happy about my closet. That feeling of "need to buy" is something I'm very much working on because it's not a healthy (mentally and financially) way to get dressed every day...

....but that didn't stop me from buying these pants (although mine were cheaper in store). Nothing like polka dot pants to shake it up a little bit.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with the winter closet doldrums.

along the lines of franish

DSC01576
Another day, another polka dotted shirt. I recently bought this shirt for $8 during the after Christmas sale at Banana Republic while we were in Alabama. I really liked it on Jenni a few months ago, but never actually saw one in our local store. After taking a look at what my closet has a lot of and what it needs, I realized that I don't really own a lot of hot weather clothes - no t-shirts that aren't sports t-shirts so adding a polka dot tee made sense (so I tell myself).

And after seeing Audrey's recap of the way she wore hers, I have 5 new outfit ideas for it!

Bloggers: the reason I pretend I know how to dress myself.

When we were on vacation last week, my sister Viktoria and I drove up to Birmingham to meet up with Whitney from Along the Lines of Style. Whit was one of my first blogging friend and we've grown close over the last 6 months of blogging. Since we had never actual met, we were both about actually nervous about meeting face to face ( I said that must be what meeting someone from online dating must feel like). Turns out I had nothing to worry about - Whitney is as sweet, pretty and funny as she is on her blog (and if you want to see what she wore, read here!). I'm so thankful that at a time where many of my "real life" girlfriends have moved away that I'm making new ones...even if they are spread out all over the country and I only know them through pictures and emails.

ladylike

DSC00799
I felt very girly wearing this blush, black and white outfit. I don't really own a lot of items in the pink family besides this cardigan, my pink chambray shirt and my LC blazer. Although I would consider myself pretty girly in the sense that I like clothes, painting my nails and not getting dirty, I don't really do pink. I don't have some deep explanation for this. Maybe my parents dressed me in only gender neutral clothing as a child so now I've continued this in adulthood?

Ok, I'll stop now ;)
